In 1879, Albert Einstein (the bloke in the tattoo!) was born in the German Empire and while in school, a young Einstein developed a passion for math and science. At the age of just 26, he gained enormous notoriety in the science world. Publishing papers on the photoelectric effect, Brownian motion, special relativity and his famous formula, E=mc2.
After becoming an academic celebrity, Einstein spent the next several decades sharing his theories in cities around the world. The United States made a special impression on Einstein where he befriended Pulitzer Prize winner Upton Sinclair. He also was also friends with silent film icon Charlie Chaplin. In 1933, to avoid the Nazi party, Einstein left Germany and worked with world leaders in England and Turkey to help Jewish scientists emigrate. By 1940, Einstein officially became a US citizen and established residence in Princeton, New Jersey where he worked at the Institute for Advanced Study.
